MATH (& ENGLISH) PRACTICE AT HOME WITH IXL
For those families who are interested in signing up with IXL (www.ixl.com) for additional grade specific Math & English problems to work on at home, please contact Natasha Ryde (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Friday October 18th. This year, the license will be for both Math & English (not Math-only, nor English only). The cost is dependent on the number of students registered. Price will be between $15.75/child to $20/child for 12 months of access to this website, beginning in early November (Please note that this ‘class’ rate is substantially reduced from their ‘family’ rate of $240/family). More information on final cost and payment will be sent out at the end of October when registration numbers are finalized.
PIZZA LUNCH IS BACK FOR ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR!
Pizza Lunch is a very important fundraiser for our school and so we are happy to say it will be running again this year. Every month, starting in October, there will be one pizza lunch that your child(ren) can enjoy with their chums. We are proud to say that we’ve not had to raise our prices in over 8 years. This year, however, the price has had to increase slightly due to the increased cost of items. Thank you for your understanding and support of one of our biggest fundraisers. Pizza Lunch will be available for purchase via Cash Online, watch your inbox for details! Thank you for your continued support of Parent Council!
4TH EMPOWERED AFRICAN CHILD ARTS CONFERENCE
This October, Linda Kennedy will be helping to facilitate the 4th Empowered African Child Arts Conference in Dagbamete, Ghana. The EACAC’s mission is to support, enrich, and revitalize primary Ghanaian teachers with new ideas that highlight the importance of the creative arts in the primary curriculum, and how to guide this learning. She will be presenting five modules at the conference, presenting a keynote speech, and teaching in the local village school. Classrooms in Dagbamete are void of resources and usually function with 50+ children sitting together in one small room. To support the school, she will be collecting supplies to equip one Primary classroom in Dagbamete. If you are able to contribute any new or nearly new supplies, it would be greatly appreciated. Please bring all supplies to Rm. 11 by Wed Oct 2nd. For more information please visit http://www.dagbamete.org/news/ & http://childhoodnow.ca/?post_type=ch_cause&p=89.
